A Tale of Two Belles

(A True Pictorial Odyssey)

I call her Kylee Sue. She is a tiny friend of mine, who lives in a world of wonderful princesses. She awakens most mornings and decides which princess she will be for the day. Occasionally she is Snow White. Another day she awakens as Sleeping Beauty. She is happiest when she looks in the magic mirror and discovers she is Belle.

She often spends her days in a special princess room where their Highnesses peer down upon her from the window shade, from pictures on the wall, and from their platform on tiny shelves with replicas of each princesses: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Tinker Bell, and Ariel.

One cool rainy afternoon, there was a knock at the door. Being the princess in residence that fine day, Belle opened the door and peered out to see who her visitor happened to be.

A look of incredulity and amazement came over her face as she saw Katie Belle, a much larger version of herself, coming through the door. Katie Bell had come to share a few special moments with Tiny Belle.

Following a warm greeting, they joined hands and went upstairs to the Princess Room. Tiny Belle excitedly displayed all her special treasures to Katie Belle, who seemed very amazed.

They sat down and read a book together. Later, they posed for keepsake photos of their special day.

At the stroke of four oclock, Katie Belle quickly transformed into my granddaughter Kaitlyn, who had to rush off to cheer for a High School ballgame.

Off she went into the rainy afternoon, and Tiny Belle (alias Kylee Sue) was left with visions of Katie Belle dancing in her head. Tiny Belle sighed, and deemed it was time for a nap. She quickly fell asleep and dreamed of beautiful princesses. It had been a very good day.
